A Prayer for Peace

I grew up in a typical Kenyan household where my mother would rain hell on us for even looking in the direction in which she put the much coveted sugar, honey or cookie jar. This woman could use curse words and religion ALL IN ONE SENTENCE ie "Lord give me the strength because I'm about to knock the hell out of this child...!" In my childishness I promised myself that in the dead of the night I would write to God asking him to "Take away this cup of pain and suffering" that is  bestowed upon this young soul and that I was ready for this land of milk and honey that is promised to me when I go home to heaven. I have come to love and admire this woman whom I fondly refer to as (Mother goose)  greatly just as I love my country Kenya. I have known no other home on earth for the past twenty years or so and I cannot help but go on my knees and pray for my nation during this election period.

We as a nation acknowledge God as our creator "Ehhh Mungu Nguvu Yetu" (Ooooh God of All Creation) which is the first line of our National Anthem. Let nobody rob us of our spiritual heritage, our peace, the love and unity that binds us together even as we cramp up together in a ramshackle of a "matatu" headed to God knows where. Let nobody rob us of our freedom to be able to awake at the brink of dawn and walk several kilometers to our workplaces read (Industial area) to find our bread and butter for our kindred. Let nobody rob us of the ability to passionately support the Gor Mahias , A.F.C Leopards and Rugby Sevens Team of our times. Let nobody rob us of our Peace Love and most importantly Unity.

As Thomas Jefferson prayed on March 4th 1805,

"Almighty God, who has given us this good land for our heritage: We humbly beseech Thee that we may always prove ourselves a people mindful of Thy favor and glad to do Thy will. Bless our land with honorable ministry, sound learning, and pure manners. Save us from violence, discord, and confusion, from pride and arrogance and from every evil way. Defend our liberties, and fashion into one united people the multitude brought hither out of many kindreds and tongues. Endow with Thy spirit wisdom those whom in Thy Name we entrust the authority of government, that there may be justice and peace at home, and that through obedience to Thy law, we may show forth Thy praise among the nations of earth. In time of prosperity fill our hearts with thankfulness, and in the day of trouble, suffer not our trust in Thee to fail; all of which we ask through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen."

One Nation One Tribe One People.....So help us God!

For the love of New Things!

Its two days to payday, my good people! I totally loved this month as it was short to the point and also the month in which I opened up my world to all of you. At the beginning of the year we (secretly) make "New Year Resolutions" and then we swear by our grandmothers graves that we will indeed follow through with them up until the third week of January. Huh! Not me! This time I had to do right by myself by having short achievable goals to be accomplished in three months. I made to through the first month alive as "MOCHA CHICA" was born and vuuaallaa...my baby is already a month old and boy does she need attention! I cannot thank you enough for the love! (wipes tear at the edge of eye!)
So last week I got some really cool stuff! These online shops will be the end of me I swear. Check this out.

I am a sucker for color and when I saw her I could not resist the "Jungle Green" feel she brought to my life. I was in need of an everyday work bag and she is so spacious and versatile I could carry her everywhere!
I got them from a good friend...Lillian (bless your soul girl). I am in love with the chunky  ones in the middle. The contrast between the chocolate brown an the gold just brings out the tribal in the earnings don't you just want to bite them? Well the studs are in line with the dress code in the legal profession I hope! Lol!  Who does not like animal print sunnies?

They were neon and they were on Saaallleee!!....Who can resist a good bargain? Guilty as Charged.

Well there you have it Ladies and Gentlemen! I know I have gone a little crazy on the earrings but Oooh well...... judge me not! life's guilty pleasures. Stay Safe! xoxo

The Pink Effect

It is Friday everybody! and I am glad it is because I have had such a busy week at work but I am not complaining just lamenting! It has been a very interesting week for me because I have done quite a bit of shopping something I have not done in awhile....and I  landed some really lovely stuff!   This online shops will be the end of me people Jeeeeez!  but worry not I will post them up for you very soon. I wore this outfit over the weekend ( please don't look at me that way...I said sorry for the delay). The pink skirt was actually a dress I got from Closet 49 just when they started out and I loved the Marilyn Monroe effect it has at the bottom. So I decided to ask my sister's friend (Thank God for sisters...just incase she is reading this) who has done fashion design to turn it into a high waist skirt because I wanted to feel like an empress! Here you have it I feel the way I look like a Empress. I paired it up with a blue off shoulder top I got on my way home from work two weeks ago which I totally love and finally the nude wedge from Toi market had it for ages but never got round to wearing it! That's all folks enjoy the Color Blocking as well as your weekend! xoxo

My Red Coat

Hey,
Lord knows I have had such a busy week at work but don't despair I have not forgot y'all! I keep convincing myself that I am not a slave to fashion but when it gets to my red coat I think its all in vain. I got this sometimes last year and I always find a reason to wear it. The color is rich, bold and vibrant and it gives an outfit this chic look.....Its my amazing "Technicolor Dream Coat!" What do you think?

Of Stolen Prints!

Hallo Hallo Everybody!
The weekend beacons and I am excited because a dear friend of mine is coming home after 3years of being away from this beautiful country Kenya! Welcome Home Jay! Enough about that well I guess your wondering what's with the stolen prints! Here goes. My sister Joyce and I attended Kitenge Festival last year and she got this really pretty African print yellow pink and black skirt! So the rule at home is that when somebody buys a new thing they should be the first to wear or use it!....Let the record show "Rules are there to be broken!" So my younger sister Sambe decided that she had to be the one to break the poor skirts virginity.....oops!!......so after colluding and scheming my dear little sister and I styled the skirt to fit the chilling weather outside that day! Joyce did indeed find out  and when she caught us taking pictures with the much coveted skirt and she made me promise not to use them for "commercial" use read the blog but ooooh well! Joyce I hope you will find it in your heart to forgive me but Sambe looked so cute and I could not resist it!!! Enjoy your weekend Ladies and Gentlemen! xoxo

On the Red Carpet!

Hey,

They are at it again. Celebrities once again hit the red carpet at the 44th NAACP Image Awards. My bestie insisted that I got to see what my style crush Kerry Washington was wearing and my oh! my she did not disappoint as she channeled her inner princess in a gorgeous Oscar de la Renta gown with a lace bodice and full brocade skirt — simply stunning!

The theme of the night was all about color, from Keke Palmer in bright cerulean blue  to Meagan Good who by the way looked like Royalty! and finally the lady who has simply refused to grow old (ooops!) Halle Berry looked divine in Vivienne Westwood.

Scroll down and check out your favourite and some not so classy but tacky (if I may add) looks!
