Nairobi Fashion Market 2014

My people my people. I have missed you so much walalalalala!!

I have been keeping well, busy with work but as always keeping you peeps in mind. The lovely girls and I were able to attend the Nairobi Fashion Market  last weekend and I must admitted I was not as enthusiastic considering the last one was a total absolute let down.

That is the good thing about not having any exceptions because my oh my!!! did we shop. I got some really cool buys and my fave was this skirt that was sent from heaven. I shall be styling it soon. Many ladies ask me where and how I shop, I wish I had tagged you all along. Nelly of Nairobi's Fashion Geek check out her blog (love this girl) were just screaming from stall after stall.

This happens to be the best picture of the day. Selfie with a Canon  beat that Mutua Matheka hehehe!!

I am that girl who wears a dress and ngomas ( as my mother calls them!)

This dress I found at "priced to go"section of Mr. Price in town. Yeah believe it or not it was a steal. I paired it up with converse and hang a small tiny blue sling bag to go. Tip: I love my accessories but this dress had so much going with the floral print so I figured a watch and some dangling earrings and I was good to go "hunting."
Always keep it simple.

Talk about pushing the envelope with this shoe! Its bold and it has spikes. I think it looks lovely on the display.

Chome on Yellow

Its me again blabbing about God knows what, but hey y'all still here reading this so it must mean what? "I am awesome!!!"

I am most definitely my number one fan. I learnt this from an early age that you gotta pat yourself on the back every so often and tell yourself that your super awesome.

I call it "The power of speaking life, good health and prosperity" into your own life.

Sometimes people are too busy with the hustle and bustle of life to stop and compliment you on whatever your doing but since you know how far you have come you just need to do it for youself.

It does pretty good number on your self esteem and gives you life juice to keep going.

I found this stripped top while I was cleaning out my closet. (sale will be going up soon).

Y'all know I am a sucker for black and white. I am potential rehab material when it comes to monochrome, It is bad.

Well I paired it up with with white pants. White happens to be one of my favorite colors. It's so bad that I can follow a guy down the street if he is dressed in all white, you know the ( white muscle shirt and white line pants and white loafers kind or the Tall "Abdi" in a  Sparkling white kanzu ) yeah those ones.

I wore a thrifted yellow blazer which I folded the long sleeves of the top over the blazer's arms to make sort of a boyfriend jacket look and threw on the nude bag and shoes to finish the simple look.

Fresh and New

I am back
I know I have overstayed my Christmas break but yeah yeah, I woke up and it was February... how about that! I was having a total bloggers burnout. I needed the much deserved break from all this. Well we are back and we are bigger and better.

Mocha Chica is one year this month.

What better way to say Happy Birthday than to "remodel".

Whilst I bumming, I discovered the reason I have not mojo to blog is because my blog just looks so plain and simple. Something that brings me so much joy was sucking the life out of me. So I changed it up a bit. A tweak there, some re branding here, some color in all the right places. I must admit the art director did  a really really good partly because he is very talented. His work sells. So if you ever need something artsy halla at me a ma hook you up.

As I was putting together this outfit I realized  how much my style has grown. There is much in my closet that I do not wear and I shall be clearing out and having a super sale so that y'all have a piece of me wherever you go hehehe!

I am loving the A-line things. They twirl and they are ooooh so girly. The heels are my best buy this year.(okay up until I get something else you know me). I know it has been two months but that is so far along in the year. They are Zara inspired and on this season of Single Ladies Lisa Raye killed it in this babies. The dots, the huge polkas just make the world go round literally.

Happy Holidays

NOBODY TELLS THIS TO PEOPLE WHO ARE BEGINNERS.

I wish someone told me. All of us do creative work, we get into it because we have good taste.

But there is this gap.

For the first few years you make stuff, it's just not that good. It's trying to be good, it has potential, but its not,but your taste, the thing that got you into the game, is still killer and your taste is why your work disappoints you.

A lot of people never get past this phase. They quit.

Most people I know who do interesting, creative work went through years of this. We know our work doesn't have this special thing that we want it to have.

We all go through this.

And if you are just starting out or you are still in this phase, you gotta know its normal and the most important thing you can do is do a lot of work.

Put yourself on a deadline so that every week you will finish one task.

It is only by going through a volume of work that you will close that gap.

And your work will be as good as your ambitions.

And I took longer to figure out how to do this that anyone I have met.

It's gonna take a while. It's normal to take awhile.

You have gotta fight your way through.

Its been a good good year. Granted I am still sitting in my office typing away as I listen to some Joyous Celebration while I wind up. I have so much to thank God for.

When I started blogging it was just something I did out of fun but I have met so many people and even found myself in the fashion section of several newspapers. I remember once my mother shouting on top of her voice for me to come down stairs and see a picture of myself in the paper. If I got on the paper then there is something I must be doing right.

This post is dedicated to  my loving family above who have tirelessly taken pictures and have never complained even once. I honor and love them greatly. May God give them more years ahead.

I would like to thank you all for reading, commenting and keeping me true to this blog. Have fun,do not drink and drive and stay safe until next year!
