Lace the Stripes.

It is possible to have everything you want but not all at the same time.

A friend told me these words a couple of weeks ago and I was completely blown away.It is human nature to feel the need to question your existence when the window of the Range Rove next to the matatu your in is rolled down and the person in it is almost your age. Jeeezz Lord was it that obvious that you passed me by?

Then during my morning devotion I stumbled onto these words by T.D.Jakes;

"In order to strive lawfully our efforts must be tailored after the pattern of divine purpose. Everyone is already blessed. We often spend hours in prayer trying to convince God that He should bless what we are praying to accomplish. What we need to do is spend hours in prayer for God to reveal His purpose. When we do what God has ordained to be done, we are blessed because God's plan is already blessed. Perhaps you have known times of frustration. Most of us at one time or another have found ourselves wrestling to birth an idea that was conceived in the womb of the human mind as opposed to the divine. For myself i have learned that God will not be manipulated. If He said it, that settles it. No amount of praying through parched lips and tear- stained eyes will cause God to revert what He knows is best for you"

Find peace at whatever stage you are in in your life. Savor the moments and purpose to live entirely in the present because worry makes you anxious of the future and you miss out on the little milestones that the now has got to offer.

I am slightly obsessed with monochrome. Okay truth, I am very obsessed with monochrome. I see it as a design piece in my bedroom, as the background for my teal sofas, as the skirt I want to rock all day long.

The lace top just presented enough elegance to finish the look and the red bottoms really brought their A-game huh!

Judge Not

People with phones expensive enough to buy a Posho mill. EYE ROLL.

People who drive gas-guzzling Range Rovers. EYE ROLL.

People who are famous and name their newborn after a cardinal direction. EYE ROLL.
People who make us feel like shit. THROAT PUNCH

We have become such a judgmental society it hurts.

We no longer see each other as humans each crafting their own separate destinies but we level we each other depending on their pay slip or if they are spotting and I phone 5. (Pan intended)

We never celebrate people's achievements without a sneer or a snide comment of how "she or he must be sleeping with the boss" to get that promotion..... "Nobody climbs the ladder that fast!"

We giggle and point in the direction of this "fat" lady and shout "didn't your mama teach how to say no to anything most especially food?"

We cringe and pity the girl who "gully creeps" in her six inch stripper heels from Bus Station to G.P.O and we intentionally swish past her like the wind  causing her to losing the little balance she has and she trips falling head first onto  the hard concrete!

We sneer (others jeer or admire) the filthy rich, old, pigmy framed man with a "kitambi" spotting in his left hand a tall, bone skinny, dark, lanky model with a Malaysian weave expensive enough to buy a Vitz and an year supply of fuel.

We pity the low self-esteemed girl who despises her Nubian beauty for a concoction of "jik" bleach to look like "rangi ya thao" aka Money.

We look away in disgust at the chap who  must have a applied a whole load of Vaseline baby jelly to slide into in those godforsaken "bloody red skinny jeans" then to sag  them just below his butt cheeks...... I almost see my mother covering my eyes not to see his "tiny butt peeping out of his" trouser.

We wonder at the pervert read (father of three) who walks passed you and whispers "Niaje Aunty umeivaa" aaaarrrrrggg who says that anymore!!

We mourn for the families left behind by the  dead beat drunk who shouted on his way out of the bar "Gari yangu inajua njia" and his buddies agreed in unison and the next morning his car was coiled round a pole on Langata Road never to be seen again. We mourn!

We are utterly tickled when we spot this "gentlemen" carrying his ladies handbag in the street as they jibber jabber away and we all go like " huyo amekaliwa."

We have become so prone to the con that you almost want to stop and ask the blind guy begging at the corner of the street if he really is blind.

This ladies and gentlemen this is the society we live in.  Nothing is ever as it is.  We judge because we are all insecure beings that constantly need affirmation to feel alive. We hide behind the sarcasm and contempt veiled in humor.  I am so weary at the ways we tear each other down, weary at the ways fear makes us mean. This is what we call the Asshole Dynamic.

As Mandy Stadmiller once  said, "I always say about this type of asshole dynamic: I get it. I know how to play it. But it's so boring and obvious. Don't you think it is much more interesting and daring to be supportive, loving ,kind and earnest?"

 Think about it!

I took this pics a year ago when I was debating on whether to expose my closet and life to the world aka start a blog. I had this short boyish cut that got people stopping me on the streets to ask where I got my hair done! I think I should put it back on....

The lovely pics were taken my lovely little sister!
