The Jump Suit.

 Photography by: Wamwiri Kimachia

I finally found a jump suit that feels right!

A very good afternoon people.

I do hope your week is coming along great. On Monday I bumped into an old school mate and the usual small talk ensued. I am sure you're wondering eeeeh what is the point of this conversation. Well off late I find it so hard to engage in the "proverbial small talk" most especially to people I do not interact with every so often. Have I become a snob or am I just comfortable and thriving in the silence?

Truth, I am morphing and I like it very much. Clarity is important as I "age" and I am not fighting the urge to just be.

This jumpsuit has got to be one of the most comfortable items in my very "small" wardrobe. I paired it up with these very comfortable animal print/ spiked heels that my mother wanted to know the thought process behind owing a pair hehehe! Don't you just love Mothers.

I threw on the signature black floppy hat that just turned this outfit around and my favorite yellow oversize blazer and vuaaaaallllaaaah we have a winner. What do you think?

Denim to Dots.

Just when I think I am going about my life aka window shopping over my lunch hour like every other invisible person this very nice lady stops me and says "Hey..... I like your blog!" and I smile and say thank you.

To that very nice lady, you made my day more so because just like any tough day a simple statement makes it all worth the while.

Hey everybody!

I am sure your keeping well and coping with the bustle.

Don't you just love denim with everything? I paired it up with those cute red sandals and this lovely A-line black polka dotish skirt which is a statement piece and you should all own one.

Boots and Heels.

Don't you just love those army boots. They are so rocking.

Hey there everybody! How you doing? *insert Wendy Williams voice*

It is a lovely new month and I have nothing but gratitude. While I was playing dress up the idea  to combine the boots with the not so long dress occurred to me.

Tell me people what do you think?

Groupie Love

I am smack inside the Monday blues band wagon wololo.

It has been one of those weekends where if we moved houses I would have probably gone back to the old place because I have barely been in the house.

On Saturday I attended a  distant relatives wedding who happens to be Chimano's sister. Yes that Chimano who is part of the very talent boy's band Sauti Sol. My very good friend Sophie is related one of the other band members so I got to share a table with the band.

It may have not been written all over my face but I was on serious groupie mode. There was a voice in my head the whole time going "Alaka don't laugh like a goat, do not giggle like a 5 year old, please girl no shrubing and its bad manners to stare.....don't you embarrass your generation woman don't you.....just keep calm try and keep calm!!!"

Well just so you know I did pretty good. They are a noisy bunch... thank God so they did most of the chatting and talking round the table while the kick ass groupie in me did most of the laughing. Well at the end of the day they just normal peeps and are really fun to hang around.

 Groupie love yezzzuuuurrr
In case y'all thought I was lying there is the evidence ...so you ladies need to be jealous yes!

The wedding color scheme was purple and pink and I picked out red ,black and white to stand out as always. That has been my unspoken rule about all the weddings I attend. Oooooh the red shoes...I cannot get enough of them. They look so good in everything I wear and hell they are mine. So guilty as charge for this repeat fashion offender... I do not care!

The back side of the dress looks heavenly and yes I have a tattoo and they are addictive so I am on the market for another one.

The Broke Blogger

My people my people

Please before you throw shoes and such like things I am SORRY. I have been missing in action. So much has been happening in my life most especially work therefore taking me away from my bogging duties but worry not that tide is over and I am back.

Do you ever look at some bloggers and go like, "How the hell does she afford all that?"

I stumbled onto a very interesting article the other day about how bloggers are able to afford the clothes they show case on their blogs. First of all let me declare this here and now, I own each and every piece in my wardrobe that is why when somebody goes like " I should come steal from your closet" I am like 'I love you but HELL TO THE NO!"

I work my ass off and buy those clothes well maybe sometimes I impulse buy but I have had to go on a budget to look as good as I do. This broke blogger has no apologies. Tiny secret most bloggers get approached by retailers to advertise the stuff they so they are in business so as you covet also remember they are in business.

I do this  purely for the love of fashion and as a hobby. If it does culminate into something better and bigger I shall take you along for the ride for sure.

I took this pics awhile ago been sitting on them for awhile now

I am all about black and white. It is my second fave form of print after animal prints. This top is slightly oversize so I put a slim belt on it to form me a waist kinder thingy. I paired it with blue pants and red sandals which are slowly becoming my fave pair. Thou shalt not judge me for wearing them so often they are after all mine hehehe!

Stages of Grief

Its been a hard couple of weeks for Kenyans.

I havent been able to blog in the past week because I was still in deep denial about the Westage Mall Terrorist attack so I am dealing with the situation how I know best.

I picked the extract below from one of the episodes of Grey's Anatomy and it has helped me a whole lot. Those of you going about your lives but are still in denial have a read:

"When someone suffers a catastrophic loss their are five stages of grief.

1. Denial- The loss is so unthinkable we cant imagine its true.
2. We are angry with everyone, angry with survivors but most especially angry with ourselves.
3. Then we bargain, we plead, we offer everything we have and even our souls in exchange for just one more chance.
4. Then we bargaining has failed and the anger is to hard to maintain we fall hard into depression and until finally we accept what we have done and we cannot change it so we let go.
5. We let go and move into acceptance.

It isn't just death we have to grief but its life too. Its loss its change and we wonder why it sucks so much it hurts so much, why the sunken feeling at the bottom stomach just wont go away but the thing we have to remember is that we have to stay alive and when it hurts so much and we can't breath that's how we survive.

By remembering that one day we will wake up in the morning and not feel this bad about ourselves keeps us going and reminds us that we are only but human and yes we do fail.

Grief comes in its own time for everyone and in its own way so the best thing to do is to strive for honesty. For us the best we can do for ourselves since we can't control it to let it go so we cry its the only way we know how and the worst part about it is that when you think its over it starts again and it takes your breath away.

There are five stages of grief. They look different on all of us but they are always five:

 Denial

  Anger

  Bargaining

Depression

and finally

  Acceptance

God Bless Kenya!

I decided not to dwell so much on the issue. I know it sounds insensitive but the more we dwell on the past the harder it is to start the healing process. I am going to keep doing what I do and that way the healing process shall be easier.

It was African Sunday in Church yesterday and my mother was so proud when I walked down the stairs in this "kitenge" dress.

I am very picky when it comes to my clothes. I think its genetic because I see it a lot  with my Aunts on my Father's side. I had this leso fabric for ages up until I meet Papi my Congolese fundi all the way in Kibera. Let me tell you the man can put together some good pieces. The fabric is bold so I just wanted a simple A-line dress with a belt to help cinch my waist en give it a ball room/Cinderella feel.

I paired it up with red atmosphere sandals that even bring out the yellow better en my classic red purse. Ladies you either go big or go home so I went big then later I went home : )

The cornrows look lovely huh! I know I cut off the hairstyle from the Newspaper awhile ago (yes I am that girl) held on to it until now. I really dn't like the normal cornrows because I think the make my head look funny but this had some flare to it en walaah....hehehe!
