A Steward of The Smallness

I love the smell of a New Year pregnant with promise and opportunities and a chance for you to start over. A chance to actually write that book you have always wanted to write, a chance to drop a dress size, a chance to go back to blogging like me who has absconded this duty for a
while.

The year that was has been full of bitter sweet lessons and blessings alike.

On taking stock I realized that the most important lesson of them all is the ability to bounce back. It is easier to swim in the mud and have a pity party and go around feeling like fate robbed you the chance of a life-time. Even as your are conscious of the sunken feeling at the pit of your stomach save some energy to swim out of the mud.

So many things have gone wrong and so many things have gone right and I choose to focus on the positives.

I have purposed to set monthly goals which have been broken down to weekly goals that way I can celebrate every end of the month for the weekly achievements.

I have purposed to be faithful with the little things and be a steward of the smallness.

I have purposed to start now. Start where I am . Start with fear. Start with pain.Start with doubt. Start with hands shaking. Start with voice trembling but start. Start and don't stop. Start where you are, with what you have.

I have purposed to Just Start.

Roca Chic

I am so in love with this new skirt.

Hello lovely people!

The month is over and boy do I need a break. Well other than my clothes obsession, I am totally loving the new Sauti Sol song "Sura Yako" it has a mix of the Coastal feel coupled with some Luhya moves. It is so bad I woke up with the song in my head.

Oooooh well back to the skirt. I loved the splash of color literally. It has no defined prints just a whole load of color and more color. I makes me feel all giddy when I look at it!

I was going for a simple laid back look. I paired it with a tee (currently my favorite) and yes I did wake up like this!! and the gold belt. The weather has been so moody lately so the Roca- Chic ensemble came together nicely with a touch of the leather jacket and the pointy heels.

Peachy and Goldy

There is some so surreal about a black and white photo.

Trading in color who bare imagination of how it would look with color takes the mind to a whole new level.  I fell in love with how nothing but lines and curves of course define this picture.

Hello everybody.

As you have noticed we have moved from the outdoor picture setting and into the studio. It was about time I got myself a professional photo shoot and after the shoot I have some new found respect for models and photographers. Yes I am keeping my day job. Thank you very much!

I got these pants a while ago and they have been hanging in my closet for months. This is a very simple look. I threw on a gold sweater and some nude pumps and we have a winner on the white background.

I call these my "feel good colors"  because they are effortless to put together when you don't really want to stand out of the crowd and also you don't want to be swallowed by the crowd.

They also help you get most out of your wardrobe when you feel the need to get something new yet you have something "new" waiting to be dressed

Suits

"Dressing well is a form of good manners" Tom Ford.

I actually have a day job that involves alot of dark suits and people going to jail or not. For all of you who have just started reading and wondering "how does she afford all those clothes?" I am here to dispel the myth and declare that I do pay my taxes from my hard earned salary as a Advocate of the High Court of Kenya and a budget.

I have always wanted to be a lawyer and do not believe all the theatrics that happen in "Suits" and  "The Good Wife" it is way diffrent down there at Kibera Law Courts. So why not let you in on my almost daily dresscode down at the plantation.

Look people will always address you and most definitely judge you according to the way you are dressed. A suit commands some air of respect and confidence that a pair of jeans will not afford you. A three piece suit even better can get you a sure "Ma am" or "Mkubwa" and everything coming out of your mouth will sound intelligent even if it is not, fact.

My secret weapon is a good Tailor who can get the measurements around the hips right. It  needs to fit just right not to big and sloppy and not to tight and slutty it can also send the wrong message. My personal favorite the three piece ensemble because well it gives you this Harvey Spectra confidence and honestly it just looks hot. ( Yes I am shallow)

My color suits rage from navy blue, dark grey, black and pinstriped.  Always spice it up the suit with colors to break the dark ensemble and throw on some red bottoms and you girl shall conquer the world.

I did this as part of my "Birthday Shoot" sometime last month and  I shall be sharing various looks with y'all. I worked with a very talented and humble photographer who you most definitely have to look up because darn he made me look good!

Two Girls One Skirt

No no!!! I am not giving anybody the directions to my place.

Ooooh by the way Howdy y'all.

Your wondering why I am protesting.Well my mail is flooded with requests to come and raid my treasure trove of a closet. Mind you I have mixed and gathered those items through blood ,sweat and fire and y'all just want to walk in and raid the premises. Do such kind of messages warrant police protection??

So yesterday the sun peaked a little in the afternoon and yes I just had to savor in this scarce commodity. In March the girls and I went for The Nairobi Fashion Market and Nelly of Nairobi Fashion Geek  (Check out her blog you will love it) and I spotted this skirt. Yes we both had to have it and guess what the lady selling it had  in only two pieces.

I fell in love with the band at the waist and the contrast of the colors and what do you know it has this 1950's ball room gown kinder feel that is so Cinderella.

Take 1:
I decided to play down the skirt with a black off shoulder top and added some studs, an envelope clutch and some peeptoe booties to go!
Simple yet tasteful.

Take 2:
Nelly went for a white sleeveless tee with her logo (cool huh) and added on a twist of blue with the heels and a Celine Trapeze bag which I could kill for.
 Elegant and Tasteful as always.

This is what happens when two girls find the same skirt!
Awesomeness I tell you.
Thank you Nellz for dropping by your the best.
 Adios!
